Manila, Philippines - May 8, 2024
The National Youth Commission (NYC) recently announced the opening of applications for the 48th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP48). This prestigious international program, designed to foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding among the youth of ASEAN countries and Japan, is now accepting applications from aspiring young leaders across the Philippines.
Established in 1974, SSEAYP has been instrumental in promoting friendship and cooperation among the youth of Southeast Asia and Japan. Each year, the program selects participants from the ten ASEAN member states and Japan, who then embark on a journey of discovery, learning, and cultural exchange aboard a ship that visits various countries in the region.
The National Youth Commission invites Filipino youths aged 18-30 to apply for this life-changing opportunity. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential, a strong sense of community service, and a keen interest in international relations and cultural exchange.
Participants in SSEAYP48 will have the unique opportunity to:
Engage in cross-cultural exchanges with peers from ASEAN countries and Japan.
Develop leadership and communication skills through various workshops and activities.
Experience the diverse cultures of the host countries visited during the voyage.
Build lifelong friendships and networks with fellow youth leaders.
Represent the Philippines on an international platform, showcasing the country's rich cultural heritage.
The National Youth Commission is committed to empowering Filipino youth through programs like SSEAYP. NYC encourages all eligible young Filipinos to seize this opportunity and apply for SSEAYP48. This experience promises to be transformative, providing participants with the skills, knowledge, and networks to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
