In a ceremony held at the Japanese Embassy in Manila, SSEAYP International Philippines (SIP), the esteemed alumni association for former participating youths of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP), proudly inducted its new Board of Trustees for its 9th-term.
The event was graced by distinguished guests including Japanese Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa and Japan Information and Culture Center Director Shigehiro Matsuda, representatives from the National Youth Commission led by Chairperson Ronald Cardema, along prominent alumna PY78 DOST-SEI Chief Dr. Josette Talamera-Biyo and media partners, underscoring the enduring partnership between Japan and the Philippines in promoting international friendship and understanding. SSEAYP, established in 1974, has played a pivotal role in developing leadership and fostering cultural exchange among young individuals from ASEAN countries and Japan.
During the ceremony at the Embassy of Japan, the board members formally took their oaths. The newly inducted officers, including former SSEAYP participants, are professionals from diverse fields.
Founded in 1987, SSEAYP International (SI) is a global youth organization that brings together alumni associations from ASEAN countries and Japan. It functions as a hub for fostering international youth exchange programs and socio-civic activities among its members. In the Philippines, SI is represented by SSEAYP International Philippines, Inc. (SIP), which comprises former Filipino SSEAYP participants. Notably, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of SSEAYP.
This induction marks another milestone in SIP’s ongoing journey to nurture the next generation of leaders and foster international camaraderie. With robust vision and dedicated leadership, the future looks bright for the organization and its members.
