NYC opens the application for 49th SSEAYP.
Manila, Philippines – The National Youth Commission (NYC) announced the opening of applications for the 49th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP), a flagship international youth exchange program sponsored by the Cabinet Office of Japan in collaboration with ASEAN Member States.
Set to sail once again from January 15 to February 17, 2026, the 49th SSEAYP continues its iconic ship-based format, offering selected youth an unforgettable voyage through Singapore and Thailand. This follows the challenges of recent years, which saw the program adapt to online and hybrid formats in response to the global pandemic.
The Philippines, through the NYC, will send a National Leader and a group of Participating Youth Delegates who will engage in dynamic activities onboard and onshore, such as courtesy calls, field visits, solidarity group work, discussions, and cultural exchange programs. This year is especially significant as it also commemorates the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.
The SSEAYP program, founded in 1974, has long been a beacon of regional cooperation, mutual understanding, and youth empowerment among Japan and ASEAN countries. Now on its 49th edition, it continues to inspire new generations of leaders with the values of friendship, unity, and global citizenship.
Apply now and be part of this life-changing journey! 🌏🚢🤝
